My Netflix “Power Moves” Moment: Sharing the Screen with Shaq and Iverson!

What an incredible journey my podcast career has been! I’ve been blessed to have produce award-winning, chart-topping shows, and work with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment. But, appearing on-screen in a hit Netflix docuseries with Shaq and Allen Iverson was NOT on my bingo card!

On June 4th, Netflix premiered the new docuseries, “Power Moves with Shaquille O’Neal“. The series follows Shaq’s bold mission of reviving Reebok Basketball. As the company’s President of Basketball, Shaquille installs fellow hoops Hall of Famer Allen Iverson as his Vice President. Together, with the Reebok team, they aim to bring Reebok back to its former dominance in the highly competitive athletic footwear game.

My Role In “Power Moves”

While my time on screen in episode 1 was brief, it has caused quite a stir amongst family and friends. In the scene I am shown having a conversation with Shaquille before we film his interview with Allen Iverson for “The Big Podcast with Shaq” at the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. Another cool thing that stood out to me about “Power Moves” is the fact that “The Big Podcast” logo that I designed is prominently displayed throughout the entire series.

The docuseries gives viewers an inside look at how much work goes into capturing market share in the shoe business. You see the boardroom discussions, the creative process, and how athletes are recruited to help sell shoes. Shaq and Iverson seek to build a new roster of rising stars like Angel Reese (WNBA) and Matas Buzelis (2024 NBA Draft Pick) as key figures in Reebok’s efforts to compete with Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.

“Power Moves” is more than a show, it’s a masterclass on the art of rebranding, and why Shaq has been so successful in business, post-NBA. Although I’ve tried to play it cool, being on screen with my “big bro” – no matter how short the time – is a highlight moment that I will never forget.
